At the Colombo Tea Auctions held on 5 and 6 December an invoice of BM from New Hopewell selling under the garden mark ‘Chandrika Estate’ realised a price of Rs. 600 which is an All Time Tea Auction Record Price for the BM grade from any elevation. This tea was sold through the catalogue of Lanka Commodity Brokers Ltd. and purchased by George Steuart Teas & Marketing Ltd. New Hopewell is a privately owned low grown elevation factory that is managed by Ranjan Walpola, a veteran planter with decades of experience.
