New hybrid coconut nursery in Kurumbupity

Plantation Industries Minister Navin Dissanayake recently initiated a new hybrid coconut nursery, in Passikudah. 

The Kurumbupity Nursery in the Trincomalee District was initiated on Coconut Cultivation Board land extending to 25 acres. The plants of the nursery will be distributed under the North-East Coconut Development Project for home gardening purposes.

Already over 80,000 acres of land has been utilised to cultivate coconut under the North-East Coconut Development project.

In addition, the 10th Coco Villa Tourist Bungalow of the Coconut Cultivation Board in Trincomalee was unveiled by the Minister.

Located at a scenic site near Nilaweli Beach in Trincomalee, the bungalow is equipped with state-of-the-art facilities and is now available for local and foreign tourists.

Coconut Cultivation Board Chairman Kapila Yakandawala, General Manager K.D.L. Dharmasiri and other officials participated in the opening ceremony of the Coco Villa Circuit Bungalow.
