Pioneer tea taster felicitated at Russel’s Tea Lounge

Austin Perera, one of the pioneer tea tasters in Sri Lanka since 1947, was felicitated by Russel’s (Pvt) Ltd. for his contribution towards the Sri Lanka tea industry and support extended to the Tea Board.

On 10 July 2011, Chief Guest Yoshitha Rajapaksa, son of President Mahinda Rajapaksa, former Mrs. Sri Lanka and MP Rosi Senanayake, Sri Lanka Tea Board Directors Hasitha De Alwis and Chandimani Bandara and other tea industry related guests graced this unique occasion at Russel’s Tea Lounge. Russel Tennakoon, who is the consultant of tea plantations, demonstrated tea tasting and described the current situation of the tea industry in Sri Lanka.
