The Plantation Industries Ministry recently initiated a program to scrutinise the quality of tea that is ready to be released to the export market.
Accordingly all export grade tea would be examined at a fully equipped inspection centre located in the Colombo Port Trico Terminal in Grandpass.
Plantation Industries Minister Navin Dissanayake visited the inspection centre recently (3) together with Sri Lanka Tea Board Chairman Rohan Pethiyagoda, Tea Commissioner J.K. Edirisinghe, Sir Lanka Customs Director General Chulananda Perera and Deputy Director Parakrama Basnayaka.
The inspection centre was set up with the assistance of Sri Lanka Tea Board and Sri Lanka Customs.
