The launch of the 2013 Profood Pro-Pack/Agbiz exhibition, Sri Lanka’s only comprehensive food, agriculture and packaging exhibition, was announced on Tuesday at the Cinnamon Grand Colombo. The exhibition will be held for the 12th consecutive year on 23, 24 and 25 August at the Sirimavo Bandaranaike Memorial Exhibition Hall.
The event, which has witnessed a significant increase in participation over the past decade, will be held under the theme ‘From farm to fork’, signifying the entire chain of the food industry, from food production to processing and finally the consumer.
The three day event will feature all facets of the food and beverage industry and will provide participants with an in-depth view of the intricate details and processes required for food products to be made available to the consumer.
In addition, two landmark events in the form of the ‘Livestock, Dairy and Poultry Asia’ and the ‘Halal Food Asia’ exhibitions will also be held concurrently, making it an ideal meeting place for all stakeholders in the food industry.
The exhibition is expected to attract an audience mainly comprised of those with intimate knowledge of the food, agriculture and packaging industries, looking for opportunities to expand product offerings and learn about the latest innovations being used.
This year’s exhibition promises to have both the horizontal and vertical components of the industry located under a single roof for the entirety of the event, allowing consumers, dealers and industry players to network and communicate throughout the three days.
Some of the other unique features this time around will be the two separate pavilions for companies from two of the largest global players in the industry, India and China, which will be set up displaying their own products, services and innovations. The event is also set to attract exhibitors from numerous other South East Asian countries as well.
Dammika Gunasekara, the Chairman of the organising committee of the exhibition, said that the event has been earmarked as ‘one-of-a-kind’ throughout the entirety of its existence and is renowned for providing all visitors and stallholders a unique experience.
“This is the only event of this kind to be held in the island and over the years it has been known to provide each visitor and stall holder with a unique and unparalleled experience in terms of networking, sales leads and knowledge. This year too, the event will most certainly be the main attraction for both local and international players of the industry and it is not a chance to be missed” he said.
The exhibition is supported and endorsement by the Ministry of Agriculture, Ministry of Industry and Commerce, the National Agri Business Council, The Processed Food Developers Initiative, and the Institute of Food Science and Technology Sri Lanka.
Elephant house is the Platinum sponsor of the event with Nikini Automation coming in as the valued Gold Sponsor and Sanasa Insurance partnering the exhibition as its official insurance provider. Sharp Print Holdings has also joined hands with this mega exhibition as the Official Printing Partner. Pix by Lasantha Kumara
