Quality teas from Cooroondoowatte rewarded with all time record prices

Cooroondoowatte, a factory owned by Robert Harley hailing from a reputed planting family in Sri Lanka, who was instrumental in bringing up this mark from a position of number 16 in the Western Medium Elevation Category in 2011, to the present position of number 10, by continuous improvement of product quality. At this week’s Tea auctions his efforts in pursuing a quality oriented approach have been rewarded by two all time record prices. A line of OP1 grade of Cooroondoowatte established an all time record price of Rs. 900 per kilogram which surpassed the previous all time record price of Rs. 860. This line of tea was purchased by Akbar Brothers. A line of BOP1 Grade also from Cooroondoowatte established an all time record price of Rs. 1000 per kilogram which surpassed the previous all time record price of Rs. 890. This line of tea was purchased by Euro Asia Cooperation Ltd. Incidentally this was the second line of BOP1 to establish the record price at this week’s auction. Forbes & Walker Tea Brokers Ltd. conducted the sale of both these lines and are proud to be partners in the progress of Cooroondoowatte mark as their sole broker.
