Shawlands earns record price at Colombo Tea Auctions

Shawlands Estate, Lunugala earned an All Time Record of Rs. 1,250 per kilo for its liquoring OP grade recently. This surpassed the previous record price of Rs. 1,240 established in the year 2008.

This line of tea consisted of 246 kg (10 bags) and was purchased by Unilever Lipton Ceylon Limited. In addition, a line of Shawlands OP1 grade, also catalogued for this sale, was sold at a very high price of Rs. 1,050 per kilo.

Shawlands Estate is managed by Hapugastenna Plantations PLC, coming under the purview of Finlays Tea Estates Lanka (Pvt) Limited. The sales were conducted by John Keells PLC.
