Sithaka amongst all-time record tea prices again

Sithaka Estate situated in the Ratnapura District, Sabaragamuwa Province, established another all time record price at the weekly tea auctions held on 27 August by securing an attractive price of Rs. 890 for a Low Grown orthodox BOP1 grade. The line of tea was sold by John Keells PLC tea brokers and was purchased by Ranfer Teas. This price has surpassed the previous record of Rs. 860. Sithaka is renowned for high quality pure orthodox teas processing liquoring characteristics and has a history of establishing all time record prices for OP1 and BOP1 grades. This factory established an all time record price for an OP1 grade at Rs. 1,000 at last week’s auction which was the first time to surpass Rs. 1,000 level for any low grown orthodox leafy tea at the Colombo tea auctions. Lalith Liyanage is the proprietor of this modern tea factory.
