Strathdon estate, Hatton achieved an all-time record price of Rs. 530 for a BP1 grade in the western medium grown CTC category, at the weekly tea actions held on 26 October. This line of tea was purchased by R.J. Products Ltd. and marketed by Forbes and Walker Tea Brokers Ltd. Stathdon is categorised as a medium grown estate even though most of the tea in the estate is grown at a higher elevation due to the position of the factory which is situated in lower elevation. Strathdon is a Rain Forrest Alliance and ISO 22000 – Food Safety & Hygiene Management Standard certified facility. Lalindra Abeywardena is the Manager of this estate and Watawala Plantations PLC is the managing agents.
