At this week’s tea auction an invoice of PF1 grade from Strathdon Estate, Hatton fetched an all-time Colombo tea auction record price of Rs. 580 per kg which equalled the all-time record for this grade held by Carolina Estate, Hatton at the last auction.
This invoice was purchased by Akbar Brothers Ltd., which is one of the leading exporters of Ceylon black tea.
This tea was sold through Lanka Commodity Brokers Ltd.
Estate Manager Lalindra Abeywardena emphasised that “good manufacturing practices” in every stage of processing in their state-of-the-art CTC factory are being closely followed. This estate is managed by Watawala Plantations PLC, whose parent company is Sunshine Holdings PLC.
