Sunil Wijesinha has been appointed to the Board of Watawala Plantations Plc as an Independent Director with effect from 22 October.
He fills the vacancy created by the resignation of D.S. Ratnasingham with effect from 15 October after serving 12 years.
Wijesinha at present is also a Director in Sampath Leasing and Factoring Ltd., Asiri Surgical Hospitals Plc, DFCC Vardhana Bank Ltd., and Chairman of DNH Financial Ltd.
He is also the Vice Chairman of the Employers Federation of Ceylon and is a Senior Deputy President of the National Chamber of Commerce of Sri Lanka.
Wijesinha previously held the post of Chairmanship and Managing Directorship of Dankotuwa Porcelain Plc and Managing Directorship at Merchant Bank of Sri Lanka Plc.
He was also the Chairman of Employees Trust Fund Board, Vice Chairman of Colombo Dockyard, Deputy Chairman of Sampath Bank and Chairman of Merchant Credit of Sri Lanka Ltd.
He has been on several boards in the private and public sector including SriLankan Airlines.
He was the former President of Japan Sri Lanka Technical and Cultural Association (JASTECA), President of Sri Lanka Italy Business Council. He was the founder President of Sri Lanka Ceramics Council and the Sri Lanka Association for the Advancement of Quality and Productivity.
Wijesinha is qualified in production engineering, and has a MBA from Postgraduate Institute of Management, University of Sri Jayawardenapura. He is a Fellow member of the Chartered Institute of Management Accountants, UK.
