Despite our busy lives, it is important that our children are encouraged to have locally grown cereals rather than short eats or instant food for their breakfast and morning intervals.

One of the key reasons for health issues among infants and schoolchildren, and in the latter stages of their lives, is their parents’ failure to give them a balanced diet for their morning meal, which is a vital requirement for their physical and mental growth during the early stages of life. It is a primary responsibility for every mother to make sure her kids are given a nutritious meal that in turn helps to create a nutritious and healthy culture among the entire nation.

Suposha, the latest product introduced by Sri Lanka Thriposha Ltd, is a completely natural and locally made additional breakfast meal from domestically grown maize and soya that fulfills the whole nutritional requirement of growing kids. Under the supervision of the Ministry Health, ‘Suposha’ is being introduced to domestic consumers as a nutritional product that can fulfill the requirements of a balanced diet with the right amount of nutrition needed for the early stage of growing kids.

Thus Suposha is an ideal nutritionally valuable meal as breakfast for many who are rushing during the morning hours and also for infants since Suposha has one of the B Vitamins, Folate, or in its synthetic form, Folic that prevents neural tube defects (NTD), serious abnormalities of the brain and spinal cord.

Suposha is also the latest product range of cereals that contains all of the Daily Value (DV) of Folic acid per serving size introduced by the Sri Lanka Thriposha Ltd. Even as an expectant mother, one of the best things a woman can do to ensure a healthy baby is to make sure she is eating a healthy diet, with plenty of folate-rich foods. The best way to guarantee you’re getting enough folate is to eat a diet rich in folate-full foods including cereal products that contain all of the daily value of folic acid per serving size such as Suposha.

The Government has realised that the provision of the required nutrition should be started at the early childhood stage to make our country a nation rich in nutrition. As such, for many years Sri Lanka Thriposha Ltd. took the actions required to supply Thriposha additional food without any shortage to equip future generations with nutrition.

Thus the Freely Distributed Thriposha Progarm was implemented with funds from the Department of Treasuries of the Government as an additional food that is continuously supplied island-wide under the national program for the promotion of nutrition levels in Sri Lanka. One of most renowned household brands in Sri Lanka to date that nearly touches over 1.2 million beneficiaries in the country, the Triposha program’s production has now achieved an excess production level of over 900 tonnes.

Every year Thriposha program distributes two packets per each recipient which adds up to over 2.4 million packets of Triposha being freely distributed to over 1.2 million beneficiaries living island-wide, including pregnant mothers, breastfeeding mothers and infants. Every recipient is being supported with 1.5 kg of Thriposha monthly since the daily requirement is approximately 50 g per person, amounting to 1,800 tonnes.

Current Production of Sri Lanka Thriposha Ltd. has hit 2,700 tonnes and as a result the Government’s state-owned enterprise Sri Lanka Thriposha Ltd. has taken steps to introduce this excess production as the nutrition rich product Suposha to the open market.

Sri Lanka Thriposha Ltd’s production process directly and indirectly helps thousands of local farmers and those from the local agricultural sector since approximately 2,700 tonnes of Thriposha and Suposha finished food is produced monthly and this is equal to the monthly requirement of approximately 1,800 tonnes of maize and 900 tonnes of soya beans sourced from domestic farmers to meet this demand.

Over the last five years, the company’s engineering division has continuously taken efforts to find and implement mechanisms to increase production and install new machinery under an extensive research and development program. As a result, new machines and several parts required for acceleration of Thriposha production were installed during the last five years to double production.

Accordingly, two proportionate mills were installed for the separation of soya beans and maize into proper proportions which facilitated the mixing of maize and soya beans to the rate of 66% and 30% respectively.

Further, in 2014 the company took steps to install a 1,350 tonne capacity machine which was able to produce 75% of the requirement of the Freely Distributed Thriposha Program. Additionally, Rs.500 million was further invested to install new machinery in the 2015-2016 period which resulted in an increase in production that helped the company achieve excess production.

By introducing this excess production as Suposha to the open market, Sri Lanka Thriposha Ltd. aims to touch the lives of those who have not benefitted from the Thriposha program.

Suposha supplement provides energy, protein, vitamins and minerals. It consists of entirely locally grown maize, corn, soya, non-fat dried milk, minerals and vitamins and production needs are entirely sourced from local farmers in Sri Lanka on a large scale, helping domestic farming communities and leading to the growth of the country’s agricultural production.
