Technical exposure and awareness program on agriculture

The Israel Center for International Agricultural Cooperation (CINADCO) organised an awareness program with Export Development Board (EDB) for farmers engaged in cultivation of fresh fruit and vegetables in the central province. It is a one week awareness program with visits to farms and research centres covering all areas in Israel. The Sri Lankan group consisted of eight participants from the central province. The Deputy Director-Central Province of EDB and the Israel Embassy in India assisted in making this program successful. Ambassador Sarath Wijesinghe awarded certificates to participants at the Ministry of Agriculture recently. In this occasion he proposed to start a ‘Centre for Excellence’ in Sri Lanka to spread knowledge between farmers with Israel assistance. The ambassador offered his gratitude to the Israel government for assistance given by them to develop various sectors including agriculture..
