Waltrim, Dunsinane and Mt. Vernon achieve all time record prices

01Waltrim Estate, Lindulla achieved an all time record price of Rs. 900 for a BOPF grade in the Western High Grown elevation category at the weekly Tea Auctions held on 25 January 2017. This line of tea was purchased by M/s Stassen Exports Ltd. Waltrim is situated at an elevation of 1,381 metres above sea level with an annual production capacity of up to 1 million/kg of made tea, and is considered to be one of the best of its kind in Sri Lanka. Waltrim is a Rainforest alliance, ETP, HACCP, ISO22000, Food Safety and Hygiene Management standard and FLO certified facility and is currently ranked as the No. 1 estate in Western High Grown Category. This estate comes under the purview of Senior Manager Udeni Wanigathunga, who has been instrumental in these achievements and is managed by M/s Watawala Plantations PLC.

Mt. Vernon Estate – Patana achieved an all time record price of Rs. 600 for a BP1 in the Western High Grown CTC category at the weekly Tea Auctions held on 25 January 2017. This line was purchased by M/s Zenra Tea Ltd. Mt. Vernon is situated in the Dimbulla planting district at an elevation of 1,188 metres above sea level. This estate is certified under ISO22000, Food Safety and Hygiene Management standard and produces over 1 million/kg of CTC tea annually. Mt. Vernon estate comes under the purview of Mahinda Rannawera and is managed by Kotagalla Plantations PLC. Dunsinane Estate – Punduloya achieved an all time record price of Rs. 510 for a BPS grade in the Western High Grown CTC category at the weekly tea auctions held on 25 January 2017. This line of tea was purchased by M/s Akbar Brothers Ltd. Dunsinane Estate is situated in the Punduloya valley in the Dimbulla planting district at an elevation of 1,400 metres above sea level and is a Rainforest alliance, ISO22000, Food and Hygiene Management standard certified facility. This estate comes under the purview of Asela Udumullage and managed by M/s Elpitiya Plantations PLC. 

These teas were marketed by M/s Forbes & Walker Tea Brokers Ltd.
