Waltrim Estate, Lindulla bettered its own record price of Rs .900 achieved at last week’s auction and sets a new all-time record price of Rs. 980 for a BOPF grade in the Western High Grown elevation category at the weekly Tea Auctions held on 1 February and was marketed by Forbes & Walker Tea Brokers. This line of tea was purchased by Russels.
Waltrim is situated at an elevation of 1,381mts above sea level with an annual production capacity of up to one million/kgs of made tea, and is a state-of-the-art factory, considered to be one of the best of its kind in Sri Lanka.
Waltrim is a Rainforest alliance, ETP, HACCP, ISO22000, Food Safety and Hygiene Management Standard and FLO certified facility and is currently ranked as the No. 1 estate in Western High Grown Category.
This estate comes under the purview of Senior Manager Udeni Wanigathunga, who has been instrumental in these achievements and is managed by Watawala Plantations PLC.
