Sri Lanka is having a vintage Dimbulla quality season this year which is perhaps the best since 2009. Dry and exceptionally cool conditions have brought out an extraordinary range of exceptional teas from Lindula/Talawakelle, Bogawantalawa/Maskeliya and Watawala/Hatton/Dickoya. There have also been bright teas from the Agrapatna and Kotagala growing areas.
Strong demand from Japan and other traditional seasonal quality buyers pushed prices up for the best invoices on offer. Parcels from Dessford Estate Talawakelle achieved Rs. 1,500 per kg and Rs. 1,600 per kg for BOP. Waltrim Estate sold a BOP at Rs. 1,100 and previously Waltrim Estate Lindula established a new record for the BOPF grade.
