The 22nd national textile exhibition Ransalu will go on show today at the BMICH.
For the first time in 21 years of its long history, this series of shows will be turned in to all-industry event by integrating handlooms, textiles, fabrics and apparels sectors. The event will be inaugurated by Basil Rajapaksa, Minister of Economic Development at 10 a.m. at the BMICH.
A Handloom Fashion Show graced by First Lady Madam Shiranthi Rajapaksa as the Chief Guest will be held at 7 p.m. at Hall D of BMICH.
“I am pleased to inform you today that in keeping with our handloom revival, for the first time, the National Textile and Apparel Exhibition series ‘Ransalu’ by the Ministry of Industry and Commerce, scheduled this December has been expanded to fabric, textiles and apparel products along with the participation of tourism sector with participation of local public and overseas reps as well. I believe that the new scope of the exhibition highlights our expanding handloom sector thanks to the vision of President Mahinda Rajapaksa,” said Minister of Industry and Commerce Rishad Bathiudeen, hailing the event on 17 December.
