Leading couturier Indi Yapa Abeywardena is back again with a unique designer wear collection for the upcoming Spring-Summer 2023 fashion show.
At an exclusive media preview earlier this week Indi Yapa gave a glimpse of the latest collection titled ‘Aarya by Indi’ through a mini fashion show at the Cinnamon Lakeside Colombo.
Official sponsors of the show Christell Skin Clinic CEO Dr. Shanika Arsecularatne, Aroma Bliss Ceylon Founder Amila Abeywickrama, and official hospitality partner Cinnamon Hotels & Resorts Colombo Operations Area Vice President Kamal Munasinghe were also present.
Inspiring fashion designer Indi confessed she spent four consecutive years completing this masterpiece collection which includes over 50 styles ranging from bridal to ethnic and Western wear.
The Spring-Summer Collection 2023 is set to be premiered officially on 18 November 2022 at the Colombo Town Hall Building and live-streamed by social media platforms.
Top-notch models to renowned celebrities from India would attend the grand fashion show titled “A journey of decadence in Sri Lankan folklore: Indi Yapa Abeywardena.”
Speaking about the collection, Indi said her designs were inspired by the ancient paintings and architecture of Sri Lanka. Specifically taking sustainability into account she created each garment meticulously using hand-drawn prints, and handcrafted textures. The collection will also consist of detachable pieces and designed silhouettes that are sure to grab the attention of fashion enthusiasts.
“As an entrepreneur, I strive to empower the younger generation, especially women, by supporting to transform them into stronger individuals, and I like to be an inspiration to the young and emerging designers,” Indi added.
She also emphasised the importance of putting Sri Lanka on the global map as a fashion hub to promote local artisans, crafts, and products, enabling them to attract international buyers.
Cinnamon Hotels & Resorts Colombo Operations Area Vice President Kamal Munasinghe said that Cinnamon Hotels is delighted to be the official hospitality partner for the event and they hope to keep the audience entertained throughout the show with fine wines and Jazz music. He also mentioned they feel honoured to represent a local brand like ‘Indi’ and to support young emerging local designers like Indi Yapa who strive to reach great heights.
