On the last day of Mercedes Benz Fashion Week in New York recently, American design house Calvin Klein created “urban eroticism” with 38 pieces for Fall 2015.
Francisco Costa, the brand’s women’s creative director, said he wanted to play with different proportions while using luxurious fabrics.
“We used a lot of great skins. So you have, you know, all this manipulated ponies skins and shearlings. But here we show them as patchworks; you know, creating layering and excitement.”
Burgundy, white, blush and terracotta were the only pops of color in the mainly black and chocolate collection. Costa said his metal detailed was inspired by the late rock star Lou Reed.
“Lou Reed was not just the music but also was the beginning, you know, juxtaposition of inspiring inspirational elements.”
Calvin Klein kept to the ‘70s theme in his collection with patch-work leather coats and jackets and leather sheath dresses.
New York Fashion Week ended on February 19 with 96 designers showing as part of the official event.
