Sri Lanka’s leading menswear specialist Hameedia continues to be at the forefront of supporting and developing the fashion industry as it partnered with Colombo Fashion Week (CFW) for the inaugural Supermodel Sri Lanka search. In its attempt to boost, formalise and raise the profile of Sri Lankan modelling industry CFW launched Supermodel Sri Lanka; an island wide hunt for fresh faces who would be mentored, groomed and trained as models that would walk the catwalk not only in Sri Lanka but overseas too. Hameedia Managing Director Fouzul Hameed sat alongside an esteemed panel of judges who are veterans in the industry to select 15 females and 15 males out of 260 astonishing applicants who applied for Supermodel Sri Lanka 2013 from all over the country. Commenting on the partnership, Hameed stated: “We are very happy to partner with CFW and work towards developing our modelling industry. This kind of event allows the fashion industry as a whole to grow and enables our talent to gain experience from both local and international gurus in the modelling world. I am personally thrilled to see the number of participants that applied for Supermodel Sri Lanka and look forward to grooming the male models as it is my forte with Hameedia’s to better their skill in the world of modelling.” The 15 male finalists wore a collection of colourful party ensemble suits for the ‘Catwalk Show’ hosted by Vision Care held on 28 November at Race Course. The finalists also donned black ties and suits from the FH Collection for the grand finale of Supermodel 2013 held on 30 November at the iconic Mount Lavinia Hotel. The winner of the male model category for Supermodel Sri Lanka will additionally be awarded with a personalised grooming session by Fouzul Hameed himself, one of the foremost names in men’s fashion in Sri Lanka.
