Coats plc, the world’s leading industrial thread and consumer textile crafts business, launches a new range of vintage zip pullers based on original styles from the 1950s and 1960s.
The selection of 12 pullers has been developed in response to fashion trends as well as requests from customers. Each puller design has been fine-tuned to combine the latest technology of Opti’s modern range of sliders while retaining its historic appearance.
The puller designs have been created directly from photos in archived catalogues of Lightning and Clix, two companies which started manufacturing zips in around 1919 and became part of Opti during the 1970s. The zips are suitable for use as fashion accessories, general apparel and also luggage and travel goods.
Coats plc Industrial Division CEO Rajiv Sharma said: “Modern versions of vintage items of apparel and accessories tend to have modern pullers which can detract from their otherwise authentic appearance. This range of pullers enables manufacturers to produce more accurate recreations.”
Traditionally Opti pullers have names of rivers in Germany but in recognition of the British fashion heritage of the 1950s and 1960s that these retro pullers represent they are named after British rivers.
