HSBC Colombo Fashion Week Resort, the third season in the annual CFW calendar, will take place at the iconic Galle Fort, this season. CFW Resort was introduced in 2012 and alternates between Negombo and Galle to showcase the latest resort wear collections by both Sri Lankan and international designers. CFW Resort 2016, hosted by Jetwing Hotels, will take place from 29 September to 3 October 2015.

“With three seasons in a year, we feel that Sri Lankan designers have got into a momentum now, as they are stretching themselves to create seasonal collections in line with global trends and seasons. After a successful start to Swim, CFW Resort will only be strengthened by the presentation of strong collections from Sri Lankan and international designers. It will also showcase Galle with an interesting fashion perspective. We are excited and focused in our efforts to take Sri Lankan fashion to the next level and make an international impact,” says CFW President Ajai V. Singh.

Last year’s edition of CFW Resort took place in the charming city of Negombo, where 16 Sri Lankan and three international designers presented their resortwear collections on a runway that was the centre of a dramatic setting, along Negombo’s breath-taking coastline.

The backbone of the Sri Lankan fashion industry, CFW has three seasons each year; Spring/Summer, Swim and Resort. Each season, CFW works closely with participating Sri Lankan designers by giving them the guidance required to express their individual design strengths. As the leading fashion platform in Sri Lanka, CFW brings its designers commercial opportunities that would help them sustain their brands and gain recognition both locally and internationally.

The CFW Resort 2016 runway shows will take place on 1, 2 and 3 October 2015, and will feature collections by 12 Sri Lankan designers and five international designers, as well as 10 emerging designers. With a UNESCO World Heritage Site, the Galle Fort, serving as the focal point of its program, this year’s edition of CFW Resort will present an exciting series of activities during the week of the shows. Popular features of CFW Resort will include Fashion+Food, Fashion+Art, Retail Walk, workshops and a themed after-party.

CFW is one of four main Fashion Weeks in Asia that is over 10 years old. It is regarded as one of the more international fashion platforms in the region and has showcased some of the biggest names in the global fashion industry in the last 12 years. As Sri Lanka’s most important developmental project, CFW inspires growth and drives innovation amongst Sri Lankan designers, by providing them with runway and retail opportunities throughout the year.
