Emerald International Ltd., the premier shirt maker in Sri Lanka recently donated 3,500 shirts to several rural villages off Kurunegala. This project has been carried out annually since 2003 in keeping with the company’s charitable initiatives.
This charitable project has been made possible due to the tireless efforts and dedication of retired Colonel Dr. R.B. Senanayake who has been a fatherly figure to the villagers.
Dr. Senanayake provides medical facilities and consultation to these villagers at no additional cost.
This annual initiative by Emerald has been done with the intention of providing shirts to selected communities who do not have regular access to comfortable quality clothing.
“As a leader in the shirt industry I believe we need to contribute to the larger community. This project implemented with the guidance of Dr. Senanayake has been carried out as a fruitful annual event, ensuring harmony amongst all ethnicities,” Emerald Executive Director M.M.M. Ihsan said.
Emerald International has been in the apparel trade since 1956.
The company has grown from strength to strength producing superior quality garments for the local market.
Over the years Emerald has mastered the art of shirt making and is currently the largest manufacturer and distributor of the number one shirt brand and other leading men’s formal and casual clothing brands in Sri Lanka.
