Fashion-inspired Village at the Hilton Colombo

  We are about to step into the most fashionable week in the calendar when Colombo Fashion Week takes place at the Hilton Colombo from 8 to 14 March. This year the event will be escalated to another level with pairing of food and fashion. The hotel’s poolside will be transformed into a fashion + food village with a unique a la carte menu and a variety of Bento Boxes. The Fashion Bar will concoct some designer mocktails and cocktails and show-case the Hilton SEA’s award winning cocktails. Four culinary experts from the Hilton Colombo with different nationalities will feature a signature bento box which is going to be one of a kind. British born Daniel Leah’s signature British Bento Box will have mini scotch eggs hidden in a layer of beef brisket, Lancashire hot pot with lamb stew topped with sliced potatoes, oysters wrapped in bacon and grilled, sausage in Yorkshire pudding along with thick soup made from white fish, potatoes and onion. Japanese Chef Hikaru Takahashi will have his signature Japanese Bento Box featuring California roll, Inari sushi which is rice stuffed into pouches of deep fried tofu, spicy teriyaki chicken with vegetables, shrimp and vegetable tempura with chili mayonnaise sauce and potato salad. Hilton Colombo’s Indian Chef Paul Joe’s signature Indian Bento Box is Mumbai coriander prawns, Lucknowi mutton shami kebab, Goan seafood tikka, Kolkata chicken roll, mix vegetable raita and Rajasthani paneer. Last but not least Sri Lankan Chef W.A.P. Sanjeewa will have his style of Sri Lankan Bento Box with local coconut apple and cashew nut crispy curries eel salad, coriander flavoured ladies fingers sambal, authentic devilled prawns stuffed crumbed fried capsicum, old fashioned chicken stew on slow cooked turmeric tapioca and oriental egg wrapped string hoppers and tempered vegetables. Apart from these bento boxes the Fashion + Food village will also feature a gourmet a la carte menu from 10 a.m. to 11 p.m. at the Il Ponte. The Colombo Fashion Week will also have after parties on 13 and 14 March from 10 p.m. onwards and the main shows will be held from 12 to 14 March featuring 23 Sri Lankan designers and seven international designers. The Bright Spark Show will be held on 11 March with 10 designers and the Design Trunk Show will be held from 12 to 14 March whilst the workshop will be held on 12 and 14 March with international fashion experts.
