Jonas Eder-Hansen, the iconic figure in sustainable fashion from the Scandinavian region, due to take part in Sri Lanka Design Festival 2012, has arrived in the island.
Jonas is behind the Copenhagen Fashion Summit – the world’s largest event on sustainable fashion and will be leading the ‘Sustainable Fashion Symposium’ under the theme of ‘Sustainability – Towards a Global Consensus,’ at SLDF this year.
The symposium engages key players of the global apparel value chain along with experts on sustainability to discuss one of the world’s most pressing issues. Other participants of the symposium include global retailers/brands, designers, local/regional manufacturing enterprises, journalists, academia and international development agencies and NGOs looking to support and work in sustainable design. The symposium led by Jonas will touch on the topics of ‘Green Conscience: The new Imperative for Supply Chain Integration,’ ‘Speed vs Sustainability: The Role of Logistics’ and ‘Handicrafts and Sustainability in Fashion’. Jonas himself will speak on the topic of ‘Sustainable Leadership in the Era of Climate Change’ where his knowledge is extremely broad and current. His leading role at the Sustainable Fashion Symposium promises to play a pivotal role in revolutionising ethical practices in fashion and design for Sri Lanka and the world.
