The fashion scene in the country is taking strides in the right direction and one of the most anticipated fashion designer competitions is hitting the ramp once again making its annual appearance for the fifth successful year. It’s an event that is novel, unique, stylish, exciting, glamorous and everything that fashion is, and more.
The coveted title is one that every young designer aspires to have. It’s a competition that exposes designers to the acid test in the fashion industry and an exciting experience that should be clung to and cherished if you plan to be in the Sri Lankan or international fashion industry.
It gives young designers the opportunity not only to meet and mingle with the local fashion experts, but also to learn from their experiences and to excel with their advice. It sets the path and paves the way for young designer participants to understand and reach for great heights. MDFD is a journey that you go through over the competition period that leaves an impression on a designer as he or she, steps into the world of design.
On the back of the resounding successes of the last four years, the fashion competition of the year is back, bigger and better. Memories of the competition bring back the glamour, thrills and excitement, while the tears still linger in the hearts and minds of the hundreds of guests who were present at the past shows.
The Chokolaate Mother Daughter Fashion competition is back. As in the past the event has exceeded its reputation and builds on its success making it a greater experience to all present. It is the ideal stage for aspiring young designers to take on each other in a battle for fashion supremacy.
The event also opens the way for mothers and daughters to dare themselves towards a step into the fashion world. These mothers and daughters will have an opportunity of a lifetime and the chance to grace the ramp. They also get exposed to a rigorous training, enabling them to make stunning moves across the ramp that they can look back and be proud of. They have an unparalleled experience of being a ramp model and what’s more, they get to enjoy that mother-daughter moment. It could be a once-in-a-lifetime opportunity and experience.
MDFD is the brainchild of Michelle Gunesekera, Founder/Managing Editor of Chokolaate, and encircles the creative concepts of her mind that have touched and highlighted youngsters through the magazine and show, for many years.
“We are delighted to announce the 5th MDFD competition and want to compliment the efforts of the many design schools in Sri Lanka. We are glad that our efforts complement what the design schools do in taking the industry to another level. As always through the show we want to give young designers the opportunity to experience the industry and especially the competitive environment. What is nice to see is the contestants gaining so much over the competition period, which makes them better and different designers as they leave the competition. It uplifts their standards and my greatest satisfaction is that they all gain so much and leave as winners,” said Michelle Gunesekera.
The designers will battle it out in three segments namely Casual, Sports and Evening wear and of course the coveted title of being Chokolaate Mother Daughter Fashion Designer of the Year and take away the many prizes on offer. It expresses the designer’s diversity as they have to create masterpieces for mothers as well as daughters in the above segments.
Applications are now open for all those aspiring young designers. You may get your application from Chokolaate facebook page or mail us at [email protected] for details and information.
