With the pre-fall fashion season in full swing, Odel is gravitating towards the simple but chic colourful solid block patterns and geometric designs that are the current rage on global runways, offering fashionistas in Sri Lanka an opportunity to update their wardrobes.
Combining the latest trends with the store’s own aspirations for the future, Odel has chosen for its pre-fall theme the catchphrase ‘Think Big’, reflecting the impetus it has gained from new owner Softlogic Holdings, under whose stewardship the brand has big plans for expansion.
Inspired by the creations of iconic fashion designers such as the London-based Serbian fashion designer Roksanda Ilincic, Topshop and Marques’Almeida – the London based women’s wear label created by the Portuguese duo Marta Marques and Paulo Almeida – Odel’s new pre-fall collection is dominated by the Colour Block.
Colour Block is all about wearing multiple solid colours in an outfit. The outfit revolves around a palette of two or more colours, usually in bold and bright shades. The result is a simple yet very chic look. Prints and patterns are typically not used in colour blocking as such designs would take away from the ‘colour blocking’ visual.
The latest pre-fall women’s clothing designs on Odel’s shelves include creations in monochromatic colour blocks, where one colour in different shades make up the entire outfit; in separates comprising a mix of two to four contrasting colours, and as standalones, which are colour blocked garments or accessories where the designer has already done all the work.
Some of the favourite colours for the season are bright orange, bright green, magenta, midnight blue, sunshine yellow and white.
Also just in for the pre-fall season are geometric designs inspired by Balmain and Desigual. Lavishly beaded with bold graphics, sharp angles and bright lines, these geo-designs are loved by fashionistas around the world.
“The ‘Think Big’ theme is influenced by the new phase of expansion and development that Odel is now undergoing in terms of its scope and brand offering, following its acquisition by the Softlogic Group,” a statement released by the company said. “Odel will become the biggest mall in Sri Lanka, and will retail the extensive portfolio of top international fashion and lifestyle brands represented by Softlogic.”
