A Canadian-based designer born in Sri Lanka and raised in London, Sasmitha Dellawa will debut at London Fashion Week with her very first collection ‘Journey to the New World’.
The Autumn/Winter 2016 collection of the LFW will be held at the Amba Charing Cross Hotel, Central London on 20 February.
The collection consists of delicately draped dresses and outerwear that exhibits intricately hand embroidered pieces by skilled Sri Lankan artisans.
Among the other designers who will line up with 19-year-old Sasmitha at the London Fashion Week are AGA couture London, Cube Estonia and Customer Hair Accessories, Forever Devine, Jiresh Couture, Omar Mansoor and Sonali Mansoor.
Sasmitha says she was only nine-years-old when she made up her mind to fully commit to fashion designing as a career. This versatile designer has been creating dresses for runway shows since she was in the seventh grade.
In an attempt to explore all areas of designing industry Sasmitha has also started modelling, which led her to participate in Top Model Worldwide – the UK’s largest model search – as a competing finalist representing Sri Lanka. She was placed 12th out of over 44 girls in the worldwide finals held at the Hilton Metropole in Central London last March.
Sasmitha’s latest exclusive London Fashion Week designer collection will be available in the UK, Canada and Sri Lanka.
The main objectives of this seasonal showcase is to give designers a professional platform from which they can penetrate new and existing markets and achieve greater sales opportunities, while also discovering and promoting new talent, styles and trends to the watching media. These multi designer shows are styled to provide its participants with the setting environment and ambiance to perfectly present their collections.
