SLDF 2014 Interior Design Exhibition kicks off today; to unveil new innovations

Sri Lanka Design Festival – the country’s leading platform for design and related industries is taking place this week. While SLDF has gained regional reputation as an international fashion platform, the event’s 2014 edition has announced a new addition to its spectrum with ‘Interior Design Edition’ to be held parallel to its fashion edition. SLDF’s first Interior Design Edition is scheduled to premiere today 4 December and will be freely open to the public on 5, 6 and 7 December from 9 a.m. to 6 p.m. at SLECC.
SLDF Interior Design Edition will highlight interior design, innovation and technology from Sri Lanka through an exhibition and associated events produced and curated by an international design team. Benchmarking events like London Design Festival and Maison de Objet in Paris, the event will completely transform Sri Lanka Exhibition and Convention Centre this December becoming Colombo’s very first, international standard interior exhibition with a design focus. SLDF’s Interior Exhibition will bring together some noteworthy innovations from the interior design sector including interior and product design, lighting technology, colour, special finishes, porcelain/bath-ware, home-ware, hotel-ware, furnishing and fabrics etc. This vast collection will be individually curated into designer spaces and unique installations.
In addition to the exhibition, SLDF also aims to contribute to the growing body of interior design knowledge by hosting the first ever SLDF Interior Design Forum focusing on hotel interior trends. Held in partnership with British council, the forum will bring together local and international interior and product design experts to discuss the newest trends around the world. The forum will be held Sunday, 7 December at SLECC and will draw in an audience of design students, young educators and general interior enthusiasts. Simultaneously, an Interior Design trend area at the event will also display world’s foremost trends to freely educate the visitors.
