REUTERS: Tennis player Maria Sharapova was recently revealed by Forbes to be the highest earning female athlete in the world for the second year, with an income of $ 29 million through prize money and endorsement deals, as well as her own confectionary line called Sugarpova.
Now, Sharapova, who also tops the chart as the loudest grunter in tennis, has launched a spin-off to her assortment of candy; a line of jewellery, T-shirts and accessories.
The items, which are described as reflecting her fun and fashionable side, were unveiled by the tennis superstar at the Henri Bendel boutique in New York on 20 August.
Sharapova recently announced she wanted to officially change her name for the duration of the US Open to her brand name Sugarpova, but she has now decided against it. Her agent Max Eisenbud told ESPN the move would have posed a problem with international travelling immediately after the American tournament.
However, they are still planning to get the name of Sugarpova out there by filling a glass truck full of candy and driving it around Miami, which she will now have time to do since she’s announced she’s no longer competing at the US Open because of a shoulder injury.
