Ashan Silva bags National Championship award at SLAS Championship awards

Outside-lead-2-ashan-photo-2Ashan Silva, one of Sri Lanka’s top motor racers once again claimed his title by bagging the National Championship award at the recently concluded SLAS (Sri Lanka Automobile Sports) Championship awards. 

Celebrating the end of a tight motor racing season, Silva claimed two awards for the SLGT Supercars upto 3500cc event in both Gravel and Tarmac categories. The SLGT 3500cc event being one of the fastest in Sri Lanka, is also the most watched. This is also a rare instance where one driver has claimed victory over multiple categories in this particular event. 

Competition in the recently concluded season was exceptionally tough, as every single point was imperative to winning the Championship. The prominence given to motor racing as of recently has also resulted in a number of new drivers entering the tracks. However, Silva managed to maintain his record as the fastest driver on multiple instances. 

Ashan’s stellar track record last  year led him to victory of four Championships in 2015 alone including the National Gravel Championship, National Tarmac Championship, SLADA Championship , and CEAT SLADAR SPEED Championship for SLGT cars upto 3500cc thus retaining his title as the Best Driver in Sri Lanka. 

Over the course of the years, his unbeaten track record was witnessed all over the island, namely at;Foxhill Super Cross, Gajaba Super Cross, Gunners Super Cross, Walawe Super Cross, Katukurunda Tarmac Circuit, Pannala Tarmac Circuit, Cavalry Super Cross and Sigiriya Super Cross, winning on consecutive occasions and also creating the benchmark by setting new lap records in most.

His ability to effortlessly maneuver his machine has gained him quite the fan base- eagerly watching the circuits in both local grounds and off! His passion for racing has allowed him to return this favour continuously as he provides his followers with the thrill and adrenaline while beating his opponents on the tracks. 

Twenty One time Champion Ashan has an unbeaten track record over the past few years thus making him one of Sri Lanka’s Best Drivers.These records have helped him gain the recognition and main sponsorship of Causeway Paints Ltd., while a number of co-sponsors including Magini Holdings, Prime Colours, Doctor Auto, Tokimo and Mobil Lubricants , continue to support him with the progression of his career.
