Highlighting its commitment to raising the bar in the country’s healthcare sector, Asiri Central stepped up to host the pre-congress workshop on interventions on left main coronary artery disease that preceded the 16th Annual Academic Sessions and the 4th Sri Lanka Intervention Meeting (SIM) of the Sri Lanka Heart Association.
Prominent cardiac surgeons, Dr. Marc Silvestri, Interventional Cardiologist – Hôpital Privé, La Casamance, Marseille, France, Prof. D.S. Gambhir, Director of Cardiology, Kailash Hospital and Heart Institute and Prof. Andrew Boyle, Prof. of Cardiovascular Medicine and Head of Discipline, School Medicine and Public Health, The University of Newcastle, Australia performed intervention surgery on four patients at the Asiri Central which was streamed live to an audience of local and foreign surgeons and medical staff.
“We were honoured to facilitate the surgical procedure as it aligns with our own interest in adopting latest and most comprehensive approaches to cardiology care. Our state-of-the-art the computerised heart centre creates a safe space to perform high risk and complex surgeries. It was an insightful session during which we explored new approaches and subtleties of this complex procedure,” stated Asiri Central CEO Manjula Karunaratne.

The pre-congress workshop encapsulated the latest developments, discoveries and techniques in intervention surgery for left main coronary artery disease. The interactive session provided a mine of useful information and initiated discussions amongst the participants.
Held with the participation of nearly 450 physician delegates and over 200 allied delegates from around the globe, the 16th Annual Academic Sessions and the 4th Sri Lanka Intervention Meeting (SIM) of the Sri Lanka Heart Association focused on a comprehensive range of academic sessions, live procedures in interventional cardiology and a full day programme for nurses focusing on cardiac critical care.
