Damro opens the doors of its mega showroom in Nugegoda

Damro inaugurated a massive 50,000 sq. ft. mega showroom in Nugegoda on 18th August, 2016. Located at an easily accessible location along the High Level Road at the heart of Nugegoda, the mega showroom offers a unique buying experience to consumers.

With over three decades of providing quality, standard products, Damro has become a household name for furniture among Sri Lankans, and has an island wide showroom network comprising of 150 showrooms. The Damro Showroom network has expanded beyond the borders of Sri Lanka, with 60 showrooms in India.

The newly opened mega showroom, making use of its spacious interior, contains 5 stores  offering everything from household items such as sofas, bedroom sets, spring and foam mattresses, kids furniture, plastic furniture, to house decorating items, office furniture and hotel & restaurant furniture under the Damro brand within its roof. Furthermore, home appliances under brands including INNOVEX, PANASONIC, PIONEER, HISENSE are available at the showroom. 

Within the showroom, Damro has arranged mock-ups of pantry sets and bedroom sets in a variety of models and colors that would be beneficial to customers, especially young couples looking to furnish their future homes. With over 70 sofas and 50 bedroom sets, as well as home appliances and other essential items for a home, the mega showroom is a one-stop shop capable of catering to all the requirements of a customer. 

The consumers would also be able to make use of Damro’s easy payment schemes offered by major banks to facilitate purchases. The massive showroom also offers ample parking spaces to facilitate the customer.

Damro has already opened a mega showroom in Kurunegala and plans to open two other mega showrooms in Galle and Katubedda within the year. The company also has plans to expand its mega showroom network to Kollupitiya, Kandy, Grandpass, Wattala, Ja-Ela, Malambe, Gampaha, Matara, Kaduruwela, Monaragala, Kiribathgoda and Nittabuwa in the coming years. Damro also has plans to set up mega showrooms in major Indian cities and has gained approval from the Indian Government to invest INR 12,000 million in the furniture retail trade in India. Damro and IKEA are the only foreign companies to have been granted this approval in the Indian Furniture Industry.

At present, Damro exports over 1000 of 40 feet containers to India per annum and hopes to increase the market potentials to export over 10000 of 40 feet containers per annum as a result of the new investment.

In future, it is expected to bring the Damro export oriented local companies and companies incorporated in India under a single mother company listed in the Singapore Stock Market. This would lead to funding a part of envisaged investments in the Indian Furniture Market.
