The 32nd All-Island School Games, organised by the Physical Education and Sports Branch of the Ministry of Education, will be worked off from 13-17 October at the Bogambara Stadium in Kandy.
Three phases of this four-phase competition have already been conducted for 27 group sports throughout the island. Over 5,000 (2,684 male and 2,437 female) athletes will participate from 1,452 schools in the last leg.
The best male and female athletes of the previous year, Roshan Ranathunge and Rumeshika Ratnayake, will carry the torch of the national sports festival. The opening ceremony will be graced by Minister of Education Akila Viraj Kariyawasam, who will serve as chief guest, while Minister of Highways and Higher Education Lakshman Kiriella will be chief guest at the closing ceremony.
