20 Sri Lankan firms are currently participating at the ‘Shanghai Jewellery Exhibition - 2023’ from 22 to 25 June at Shanghai World Expo Exhibition Centre in Shanghai.
Sri Lanka is among many participating countries including Thailand, Korea and Taiwan.
Sri Lanka’s Consul General in Shanghai Anura Fernando participated as the Chief Guest at the inauguration ceremony attended by thousands of gem and jewellery enthusiasts, traders and onlookers around the world.
In his speech, Fernando highlighted the close trade and cultural links between China and Sri Lanka and encouraged strengthening of those bilateral links in the fields of tourism, technologies, gem and jewellery. Fernando also spoke extensively regarding renowned Ceylon sapphires attracting the attention of gem and jewellery traders and enthusiasts from other countries.
Among participating companies from Sri Lanka are Zam Gems, Regal Gems and Jewellers. The exhibition is also being participated by Shanghai Gem and Jade Exchange, Shanghai Jewellery Association and Macao Gem & Jade Exchange.
