Wins Silver at Plastics and Rubber Institute of Sri Lanka Annual Awards Ceremony

3K Holdings Ltd. celebrated their 20 years in business on 11 February at their factory premises at the Katuwana Industrial Park Homagama.

The Company’s 3K Brand pre-cured tyres occupies a leading position in the Sri Lankan tyre rebuilding industry. Since their moderate beginning in 2005 they have also grown in stature to become the leading manufacturer of tyre flaps in Sri Lanka.

3K Holdings won the Silver Award for the SME sector at the Plastics and Rubber Institute of Sri Lanka Annual Awards for 2024 held at the Cinnamon Life recently. The Joint Managing Directors expressed their great satisfaction in getting the Award after recovering from a turbulent period due to a disastrous downturn in the economy. The wholehearted support from all the employees, they emphasised was the critical factor of their success.

Their first factory was built at Katuwana Industrial Park and later they established the second factory at Panaluwa Industrial Park, to expand their compounding facilities with the addition of an internal mixer and other associated equipment. The production of tyre flaps were also started and they have become the leader in the industry with the addition of new moulds, to offer a comprehensive range and high quality products to its customers. The rebuilding of tractor tyres and JCB tyres too were started at the Panaluwa factory. They also have factories in industrial zones like Buttala, Weligama, Kurunegala and Kandy to serve their customers’ island wide.

The production of tread strips and the compounding facility – 3K Treads Ltd. is carried out with an Indian collaboration and they supply the tread strips for the other factories to rebuild the customer tyres. The Indian partner Victory Treads Kerala has been in the industry for a long time and acquired expertise to support 3K Holdings Ltd.

3K Holdings have drawn up plans to expand their facility at Panaluwa with the acquisition of an adjoining land to set up a Quality Control Laboratory, a raw material and a finished goods stores to provide an enhanced customer service.

The company is now planning to enter the export market to send their tread strips for tyre rebuilding and tyre flaps to the Mid-East and the Asian markets. It could support their efforts to bring in foreign exchange to supplement their imports expenditure. They are convinced that their superior quality products can meet the demands of the export market.
