3M ESPE innovation brings smiles to the dental industry

3M ESPE, the most innovative and practical solution provider to dental practices in Sri Lanka showcased their innovative dental solutions at the recently concluded FDI/CDA/SLDA Joint International Dental Conference. 3M ESPE partnered with Sri Lanka Dental Association (SLDA) for the International Dental Conference which coincided with the 80th Anniversary Annual Sessions of the SLDA that concluded recently with huge success. The event was organised by Sri Lanka Dental Association (SLDA) jointly with the World Dental Federation (FDI) and Commonwealth Dental Association (CDA). The conference brought together local and foreign experts in the industry under the theme “New Challenges in Dental and Oral Health Care”, allowing discussions on dental implantology, fixed prosthesis, aesthetic dentistry, endodontics, orthodontics, ceramics, and advances in periodontology, oral diseases and minor oral surgery. The 3M ESPE stall at the BMICH showcased product solutions to over 800 local and foreign participants attending the conference. They made it an opportunity to introduce Ketac N100, the world’s first nanoionomer and Protemp IV, the world’s first preformed, malleable, self-supporting and light-curable composite crown to Sri Lankan dental care sector. The stall attracted many dental professionals by demonstrating product solutions and providing a firsthand opportunity to experience 3M ESPE innovation at its best. Its aim was to showcase the reasons why 3M ESPE is recognised as the ‘Most Innovative Dental Company Worldwide’ for the eighth consecutive year by the Anaheim Group. They also provided one-on-one interactions with 3M dental experts who were brought down to Sri Lanka from the region, maximising the opportunity for dental practitioners to get a better understanding about the 3M oral care products. Addressing a workshop to facilitate local dental experts, Dr. Arvind Shenoy said: “Dentistry is a highly evolving medical discipline with new products and solutions introduced every six months. Compared to many other countries, Sri Lankan standards of dentistry is very high. Sri Lanka having 2000 dentists for a population of 20 million is a great achievement against many other South Asian countries.” 3M Sri Lanka Division Manager, Health Care Business Sanjaya Rekawa added: “3M ESPE consistently develops easier and better solutions and new techniques to address all the needs of dental patients while customising our products to suit different geographical markets by consulting local dental care experts. Therefore, all our products are extensively tested before introducing them to the dental practitioners.” He further added that there is a wide variety of dental products available in the local market. 3M ESPE has a range of new products and solutions that includes restorative, crown and bridge, implants, preventive, infection control and cosmetic dentistry. In addition, 3M Digital Oral Care department integrates advanced digital technology and materials science through CAD/CAM and digital impressions. 3M ESPE dental products available in Sri Lanka are manufactured using world class processes and standards and yet cost effective compared to western countries. 3M ESPE being dedicated to introducing new products and solutions to dental care sector has previously carried out 3M product awareness programmes in Sri Lanka in several areas such as Kegalle, Galle, Kurunegala, Anuradhaura, Peradeniya, Vauniya, Baticoloa, Gampaha and Colombo.
