The 3M Volition Enterprise Network Solutions team of global innovation giant 3M showed their commitment to the IT industry by coming forward as the silver sponsor of the SEARCC (South East Asia Regional Computer Confederation) International Conference 2013 that concluded recently in Colombo. The event was hosted by the Computer Society of Sri Lanka (CSSL) in partnership with the annual National IT Conference (NITC), adding a better value proposition to the participants.
The SEARCC is a forum of national ICT professional societies in the Asia Pacific region, focused on promoting collaboration and cooperation among the member countries by holding international conferences, workshops, and competitions to exchange knowledge, share experiences among member organisations and assess future developments in the IT industry.
The aim of the 2013 SEARCC International Conference was to be a platform for industry practitioners and academia to get up to date on current technology trends, interact with industry experts and network with peers. The theme of this year’s conference, therefore, was ‘I3CT: Innovation, Integration for Impact’ that discussed the use of ICT innovations and integrations in creating better solutions and in building a positive force in the transformation of people’s lifestyles and corporate practices.
The conference saw the participation of over 500 IT professionals and talented individuals in the field. The event brought down many foreign delegates and speakers to Sri Lanka who shared their expertise and knowledge in many different areas. Over 36 prominent local and foreign speakers discussed topics under four main tracks – ICT innovations, mobile and cloud computing, ICT for governance and security.
Suresh Anandappa, Head of Marketing at 3M Sri Lanka, one of the speakers of the event, created a discussion on how to drive growth through innovation. Addressing the audience, he said: “In order to succeed in the marketplace, every company must master two sets of activities, that of managing the present and creating the future. Creating the future is all about driving long term growth. The company’s innovation capabilities and culture become the single most important factor in staying ahead of the growth curve.”
In addition, 3M’s exhibition booth held in parallel to the conference showcased a range of volition network solutions to the participants. Attending the event, Derrick Ferdinandus, Sales Manager at 3M Sri Lanka, Electrics and Energy Business Group, added: “The 3M volition enterprise solutions team believes that adding value through education and training to the IT industry stakeholders will enhance the brand value and help gain mind share from our valuable clients.” Events of this nature help maintain the highest professional standards among the information and communication technology fraternity. He added: “3M has lined up many events and activities in this year to support and encourage those engaged in IT field. The SEARCC Conference is one of the key events that helped us achieve this goal in communicating global knowledge to thousands of ICT professionals.”
