3M Sri Lanka celebrates 20 years of innovation

3M Sri Lanka, the local subsidiary of $ 30.8 billion global innovation giant 3M Company, recently celebrated its 20th anniversary in the country. The event, which took place at the Hilton Colombo, was attended by all local stakeholders and was an evening of informed discussion. The Chief Guest of the night was the Governor of the Central Bank Ajith Nivard Cabraal. In his speech addressing the audience Cabraal highlighted the current economic development taking place in the country. With local infrastructure and communication networks improving and the number of projects in the pipeline the regional disparity will further decrease in the next few years and will help Sri Lanka’s GDP reach $ 150 billion by 2020, bringing us on par with countries such as Malaysia in terms of key economic indicators. He also said that the private sector too is reaping the benefits from the current economic climate. The company outlined that in the current climate its focus on innovation will continue to drive growth for its operations in the Sri Lankan market. The company also shared that developing and offering market focused solutions for more effective and successful customer outcomes will be the key to driving growth and increased market penetration. 3M reiterated its commitment to advancing, enhancing and improving the lives of its stakeholders in Sri Lanka. Speaking at the event 3M Sri Lanka Country Head Suren R. Rajanathan said, “20 years in Sri Lanka has been a challenging journey. However, with the ever improving economic and corporate climate in the country the future of 3M is bright. But it still requires hard work and dedication to ensure that our customers choose 3M first.” In addition 3M India Region Managing Director Amit Laroya said, “While 3M is known for innovation we believe that this is only possible through our employees. We believe that building talent and enhancing their capabilities is a key area of focus for us. And we believe that this will go a long way in helping Sri Lanka’s growth plans.” Over the years, 3M has built on its relationships with government institutions and private businesses to bring innovative solutions to the customer table. These partnerships and events have accelerated the advancement of Sri Lanka’s businesses as well as Sri Lankan lives. Speaking of the many relationships 3M has forged over the past 20 years, 3M Sri Lanka Head of Marketing Suresh Anandappa said, “Our focus on the customer and innovative solutions to their everyday problems makes us an invaluable part of their lives.
