Sri Lanka Foreign Employment Bureau says that 42,000 youth obtained applications from the Bureau to apply for 9,500 jobs in Korea.

The Test of Proficiency in Korean Language (EPS-TOPIK) in 2011 required for employment in Korea is to be held on October 08 and 09.

Last year 23,000 persons obtained applications for the Korean Language examination but only 18,000 actually took the exam.

This year, the applications were issued at 21 centers island wide from August 08 to 11.

However, a rush in Colombo on the first day, applications issued, made headlines in media as chaos among the prospective applicants led the Police to intervene to control the crowd.

The jobs are given under an agreement between the governments of Sri Lanka and Korea.
