The 67th Convention of the Travel Agents Association of India (TAAI) was inaugurated under the patronage of President Ranil Wickremesinghe at the BMICH Colombo on Thursday.
The four-day convention has drawn 450 top Indian travel agents and 50 travel trade media personnel to the country, further bolstering tourism. It will have business sessions between both countries with the participation of agents and all the stakeholders of Sri Lanka, followed by excursions countrywide.
TAAI has a membership of around 3,000 and this convention will likely help to draw more holidaymakers from the giant neighbouring market by showcasing Sri Lanka’s diverse attractions and warm hospitality to entice visitors, paving the way for a sustained influx of travellers in the months to come.
Sri Lanka Tourism Promotion Bureau (SLTPB) hosts the event that will focus on inbound tourism to Sri Lanka, destination promotion, MICE, wellness, religious, wedding, sports and many more travel-related opportunities the two countries have to offer. Sri Lankan Airlines will come on board as the airline partner of the event whilst the Sri Lanka Association of Inbound Tour Operators (SLAITO) is the key organising partner.
