The Delegation of German Industry and Commerce in Sri Lanka (AHK Sri Lanka) welcomed the new year with a spectacular New Year’s Reception at the Taj Samudra Hotel in Colombo on 23 January. The event brought together representatives of over 300 German brands present in Sri Lanka, along with key business representatives and journalists.
This year, AHK Sri Lanka had the distinct privilege of welcoming Federal Ministry for Economic Affairs and Climate Action (BMWK) External Economic Policy South and Southeast Asia, Australia, New Zealand, and Oceania Director and Head of Division Tobias Pierlings as the Chief Guest. The event was further graced by the presence of Federal Republic of Germany in Colombo Deputy Ambassador Olaf Malchow. Their participation underscored the enduring partnership between Sri Lanka and Germany while highlighting the potential for expanding bilateral economic cooperation in the years to come.
Addressing the gathering, AHK Sri Lanka Chief Delegate Marie Antonia von Schönburg highlighted the shared vision for growth and collaboration: “The New Year’s Reception is both a celebration of the achievements we’ve shared and a platform to envision the possibilities ahead. As we step into 2025, we remain steadfast in our commitment to fostering deeper connections, driving innovative and sustainable growth, as well as supporting the German brands that contribute to strengthening bilateral economic ties.”
A standout moment of the event was the recognition of AHK Sri Lanka’s Premier Partners, who were presented with tokens of appreciation in acknowledgment of their steadfast dedication and exceptional contributions.
