Board of Investment (BOI) Chairman Sanjaya Mohottala recently called on the Ambassador of the Republic of Korea Woon Jin Jeong to discuss several initiatives that would potentially increase foreign direct investment (FDIs).

During the meeting, the Chairman appreciated the efforts extended by Ambassador Jeong in support of the recently concluded Sri Lanka Investment Forum (SLIF) breakout session featuring Korean Investors.

He also briefed the Korean Ambassador on the latest initiatives of the BOI engaged in to attract more FDI from Korea.

Both the BOI Chairman and the Ambassador expressed their optimism on the prospect of premier Korean companies investing in Sri Lanka as a result of targeted investment promotion initiatives embarked in the Korean market. These are orchestrated by the BOI and ably supported by Ambassador for Sri Lanka in Korea Saj Mendis, the Korea Trade-Investment Promotion Agency (KOTRA), and the Embassy of the Republic of Korea in Sri Lanka.

It was also revealed that the BOI would be collaborating with the Sri Lanka Embassy in Seoul, and the Korean Federation of Textile Industries (KOFOTI) to promote investment opportunities at the Eravur Textile Park.

This event will be followed by a webinar on investment prospects at the upcoming Pharmaceutical Manufacturing Zone in Hambantota, scheduled for November this year.
