The Bar Association of Sri Lanka (BASL) is to launch a new online certificate course in Intellectual Property Law. This will be the seventh online course to be conducted by the BASL.
The course is due to commence on 30 April and will comprise of a highly distinguished panel of legal and industry experts, who will conduct lectures over a period of 10 weeks, every Friday afternoon via Zoom.
The legal experts as resource persons will include Dr. K. Kanag Iswaran PC, Dinal Philips PC, Dr. Harsha Cabral PC, Chandaka Jayasundere PC, NIPO Director General Geethanjali Ranawaka, former NIPO Director General Dr. D.M. Karunaratne, Professor Naazima Kamardeen, Dr. N.S Punchihewa,
Menaka Harankaha, Dr. Darshana Sumanadasa, Chanakya Jayadeva, Dr. Chamila Talagala and Lihini De Silva.
BASL President Saliya Pieris PC said: “The BASL is launching its first-ever online certificate course in Intellectual Property. I congratulate the Seminars Committee headed by the Secretary Rajeev Amarasuriya for this initiative. Those joining the course will be privileged to be taught by among the best practitioners and academics in the IP field. The certificate course adds to the growing number of such law courses conducted by the BASL, which can be followed by its members and also non-members at the time of the pandemic in the comfort and safety of their homes or offices.”
BASL Secretary Rajeev Amarasuriya said: “The BASL was happy to address this important area of Intellectual Property Law which keeps increasing in relevance and importance as Sri Lanka grows and develops. In addition to the very best in the field as resource persons, the course is held virtually enabling participants to connect from their homes and offices which provides convenient reach to the entire membership across the country.”
During the past year, the Bar Association has been able to provide extensive Continuous Professional Development for its membership virtually with over 60 free webinars which are available with open access on the BASL Youtube Channel and other online certificate courses.
