  • Partnering KFHI and Abans

Globally renowned electronics giant, LG, and Korea Friends of Hope International – Sri Lanka (KFHI) recently partnered with the trusted Sri Lankan conglomerate, Abans Group, to join forces to initiate the first ‘LG Ambassador of Change Programme’ in Sri Lanka. Lending their wealth of experience and excellence in the local media and advertising industry, ABS GDH (an affiliate of Abans Group) will be conducting the entire program, raising awareness and promoting the event on all relevant platforms, both conventional and digital.

Spearheading this ground-breaking initiative is KFHI Secretary Lasitha Nanayakkara who has been instrumental in formulating this partnership with the intention of uplifting the lives of Sri Lankans and aiding the development of rural areas in the country. The ‘LG Ambassador of Change Programme’ offers everyone the opportunity to do their part towards the improvement of their respective villages, and be recognised as the next rural-development innovator.

This is a program that is currently conducted worldwide every year, and the goal is to commence this project as one that will be conducted annually in Sri Lanka too, to help Sri Lankan communities and better their lives.

At a time where many people are facing many severe problems, especially in rural areas, the LG Ambassador of Change Programme aims to resolve these issues and offer feasible, long-term solutions. The programme is divided into four main segments of physical needs, cultural activities, medical facilities, and development of sports. If you are aware of any shortcomings or issues in your village that belong to any of these categories, and wish to provide solutions for them, then send a detailed description with all information of the specific issue to LG Ambassador Programme, ABS GDH, No. 498, Galle Road, Colombo 03 or e-mail them to [email protected] before 3 January 2021. More details can be obtained on 011 577 5380.

All applications should carry a certification by the relevant Government official as well. Any lack of physical needs and resources should be certified by your local Grama Niladari or Samurdhi Niladari. The Cultural Officer should certify any lack of cultural activities, while shortcomings in medical facilities should be certified by the Public Health Inspector. To bring to light any obstacles that hinder the development of sports activities, the concerns should be certified by the local Sports Officer.

Selected development projects, from the collective appeals sent, will be granted the opportunity to be carried out after further analysis by LG. A valuable gift or certificate will be granted by LG to selected people who submit their concerns, as a reward for bringing to light the difficulties faced by villages, and taking charge of developing and solving those problems.
