Borouge and Falco promote sustainable advanced packaging solutions

their agent in Sri Lanka, Falco International Trading Ltd., for rigid and flexible packaging stakeholders. 

Falco International Trading, established in 1995, is an import and export trading company and acts as agents and manufacturer’s representative for international manufacturers of industrial raw materials for the plastics, rubber, tire and flexible packaging film industries. Falco also does consultancy work for a number of industries including the water sector. Falco has developed a strong reputation within the Sri Lankan market as a reliable supplier of raw materials to key local industries.

Falco International Trading Managing Director Shakir Lukmanjee welcomed the gathering to the Technical Seminar and stated that Borouge was committed to the Sri Lanka market and had been nurturing the Sri Lankan polymer market since 2001.

The technical seminar was held at the Spice Room, Shangri-La Hotel, Colombo on 13 December. The event was full house and well represented by all leading converters and value chain members of the Sri Lankan packaging and plastic industry.

Borouge Indian Subcontinent Vice President Sandeep Puri highlighted Borouge’s commitment for Sri Lankan packaging industry. He mentioned that Sri Lankan market is a strategic location for subcontinent growth story and will continue to provide dedicated technical support to this market to develop value added solutions for stakeholders. He emphasised Borouge’s commitment and focused approached towards sustainability and circular economy.

As a responsible petrochemicals company, Borouge believes that achieving a zero waste plastics circular economy requires strong and concerted actions by governments, businesses, consumers and community.

During technical seminar Borouge introduced many new products. Anteo – a Bimodal Terpolymer LLDPE based on the latest proprietary Borstar Bimodal Smart Catalyst PE technology offers an outstanding sealing performance with superior puncture and tear resistance.

This seminar was the official launch of Borstar FB5600 in the Sri Lankan market. This bimodal HDPE provides superior stiffness, high barrier, low gel, outstanding ESCR combined with good processing.

Borouge’s team mentioned and touched on their popular polypropylene random and block copolymer product portfolio and their attributes to achieve differentiated solution at the market place. Here, Borouge will bring more market driven solutions from their next expansion by 2021 with new PP plant having a capacity 480,000 MT.

Middle East, Africa, Europe and Indian Subcontinent Application Development Manager Peter Malmros conveyed Borouge’s Commitment towards Circular Economy and detailed about its future activities in this area.

Falco international Trading Director Farida Lukmanjee gave the vote of thanks at the end of a highly successful technical seminar by thanking all the customers for their continued support and cooperation and assured to continue providing superior products from Borouge and to have more technical seminars, regular customer visits and joint trials with customers when needed.
