Council member, Institute of Chartered Accountants of Sri Lanka (CA Sri Lanka),  Tishan Subasinghe, was elected last week to serve on the Board of the Confederation of Asian and Pacific Accountants (CAPA), representing Sri Lanka. 

Subasinghe, highly respected in the accounting fraternity in Sri Lanka, was elected from a total of 17 contestants vying for nine Board positions at CAPA, a prestigious regional accounting organisation representing 30 accounting bodies across 22 jurisdictions in Asia and the Pacific. The other countries serving on the Board are India, Australia, Bangladesh, China, Japan, Korea, Nepal, New Zealand, Papua New Guinea, the Philippines, and the United States of America. 

As Board Member of CAPA, Subasinghe will play an instrumental role in shaping the future of the accounting and auditing profession across Asia and the Pacific, ensuring that it continues to meet the evolving needs of businesses, regulators, and the society at large.

In his multifaceted professional role,  Subasinghe currently serves as joint managing partner at Moore Aiyar, Managing Director, Moore Consulting Ltd, as well as Chairman, Sanasa Insurance Company Ltd, and Director at both Amana Bank PLC and Kapruka Holdings PLC. Also, he is  a council member of the University of Moratuwa.

He has served on the Council of CA Sri Lanka since 2014 and was also a member of the Presidential Commission on Simplification of Laws and Regulations, in addition to serving as a member of the Committee for the Revival of Failed Licensed Finance Companies, appointed by the Central Bank of Sri Lanka.

His influence extends regionally through his contributions to accounting bodies such as the South Asian Federation of Accountants (SAFA), where he served as Chairman of the ITAG Committee responsible for organising the regional annual report awards competition.  Subasinghe has made substantial contributions to CAPA too, where he served as Chairman, CAPA International Conference Organising Committee in 2021 and actively participates in the Member Development Committee, contributing to the growth and development of the accounting profession on an international scale. 

His professional journey in the past encompasses a partner role at BDO Partners and various positions at Pricewaterhouse Coopers (Botswana, New York, and Philadelphia). He commenced his career at BDO Burah Hathy in 1997. As an educator and mentor, he is a visiting lecturer at the University of Sri Jayewardenepura and the University of Rajarata and guest lecturer at the Universities of Colombo and Kelaniya.

 Subasinghe holds the credentials of a Fellow of CA Sri Lanka, CMA Sri Lanka, and AAT Sri Lanka. Furthermore, he is an attorney-at-law and a Certified Information Systems Auditor. His academic accomplishments include a Master of Business Administration with a specialisation in finance from the University of Colombo and a Bachelor of Laws with Honours.
