CAASL DG says BIA on par with international standards

Civil Aviation Authority of Sri Lanka (CAASL) Director General Capt. Themiya Abeywickrama yesterday confirmed that Bandaranaike International Airport (BIA) is on par with international standards and is all geared to combat the COVID-19 challenge. He made these remarks yesterday during an inspection visit to the BIA premises along with senior officials of CAASL and Health Officials.

The Director General said that BIA was following the procedure outlined by the International Civil Aviation Organization (ICAO) in the prevention and control of novel coronavirus infection and some of world’s most advanced airports. It was pointed out that BIA was all set to receive around 200 students from Canada, US and UK today.

Abeywickrama also commended the proactive measures taken to identify, create awareness and to reduce the spread of the novel coronavirus within the airport premises by the Airport Aviation Services (Lanka) Ltd., Chairman Rtd. Major General. G.A Chandrasiri and the entire staff.
