The foremost and most anticipated economic event of Sri Lanka, the Sri Lanka Economic Summit 2021 continues for the second successive day on 7 December, under the theme ‘Springboard for revival: Opportunity to reset’.
Day one of the Summit delivered on expectations, with a high-profile line-up of speakers and panellists generating insightful and thought-provoking discussions on setting a sustainable course for Sri Lanka’s economic revival and development, including the urgent need for a more holistic and long-term economic policy.
Today’s sessions will focus on leveraging Sri Lanka’s resources and capabilities in order to position the country as a viable commercial and technology hub, exploring avenues to enhance the export portfolio and dollar revenue as well as reviving the tourism industry in the context of a new normal for travel.
Virtusa GM – Madu Ratnayake, and SLASSCOM Chairperson Sandra de Zoysa will address the summit on the topic of ‘Charting a Path Towards a Technology Hub’. Harvard’s Center for International Development Director – Growth Lab Professor/Rafic Hariri Professor of International Political Economy at Harvard Kennedy School Ricardo Hausmann will speak on ‘Resetting the Export Portfolio’. International Trade Centre Director – Division of Country Programs Ashish Shah – will present on ‘New Instruments – Springboards for Exports’, while McKinsey and Company Partner Steve Saxon will present during the final session of the summit, on ‘Survival to Recovery: Reviving Tourism Inflows’. Many eminent panellists and experienced moderators will join the panel discussions that will follow the presentations in each session.
