CMA conducts seminar on ‘New Inland Revenue Act’ on 20 Sept.

The Institute of Certified Management Accountants of Sri Lanka (CMA) will conduct a seminar on ‘New Inland Revenue Act’ on Wednesday, 20 September from 8:30 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. at the Cinnamon Lakeside, Kings Court. The new Act will have a significant impact on taxpayers as it replaces the existing tax law and its long established practices. At this seminar participants will be able to understand the immediate action for taxpayers how the new rules will apply in their own circumstances. 

The seminar will be inaugurated by the Chief Guest State Minister of Finance Eran Wickramaratne and he will address the gathering on the ‘Policy Framework and Highlights of the New Inland Revenue Act’. The welcome address will be delivered by CMA Sri Lanka President Prof. Lakshman R. Watawala. The presentations on ‘Income from Business and Investment Income’, will be delivered by Duminda Hulangamuwa, Partner, Ernst & Young, ‘Personal Income Tax, Administrative Provisions, Assessments and Appeals’ by Suresh Perera,  Principal – Tax and Regulatory, KPMG, and ‘Analysis of New Inland Revenue Bill’ by N.R. Gajendran, Senior Partner, Gajma& Co.  The panel discussion will be held at the end of the presentations and it will be moderated by Ernst & Young Partner Duminda Hulangamuwa and the panellists are Rajendra Theagarajah, Joint Deputy Chairman Cargills Bank Ltd., Sri Lanka/Chairman, Ceylon Chamber of Commerce, Dinesh Weerakkody, Advisor Ministry of National Policies and Economic Affairs, Nishtar Sulaiman, Partner, Ernst & Young, Thanuja Perera. Tax Advisor, Ministry of Finance, Samantha Ranatunga, Managing Director/CEO, CIC Holdings PLC and S. Iyesha Asanthi, Deputy Commissioner, Department of Inland Revenue. Participants will also have an opportunity to obtain clarifications and direct questions to speakers and panellists.
